One Video Production, Distributed Three Ways
On Target Outfitters is a non-profit youth mentoring program that uses hunting and shooting sports to connect with kids.
The goal of this project was to create a fun and informative promotional video that
- provides an overview of the programs offered by On Target;
- introduces founder Steve Scott and the origin story of On Target to potential new clients and supporters; and
- includes testimonials from several parents and a school administrator who have experienced On Target first-hand.
Also, we wanted to show how much fun students had in several different archery clinics (indoor and outdoor) and that the classes were organized and safe and provided an excellent opportunity for youth mentorship.
Screening For An Event Audience
The video was completed in time for screening at the On Target Outfitters banquet on January 22, 2010. It was such a joy to attend this event to see the reactions of children and parents as people they recognized (including themselves!) appeared throughout the piece, either in action shots or in interviews. Live screenings are fantastic because you can feel the excited vibes from the audience members — it’s a boost for our client as well as for us as we take a victory lap together in celebration of another completed video project.
DVD Distribution
100 DVDs were created for distribution to school administrators, organizers of church youth activities, and others interested in participating in On Target events. 50 of the DVDs produced contained the primary video (embedded above), which targets a Christian audience. The additional 50 DVDs produced contained an alternate edit, which was secular and more appropriate for a public school audience. To help distinguish between the two videos once the DVDs were produced, we designed two versions of the DVD faces: the design with orange was the Christian version and the design with green was the secular version.

Video For The Web
During production of the video, we learned that On Target was in the process of updating their website design. This was a great opportunity to add video elements to the site to show all the fun in action. The primary video was broken down into smaller, modular segments and exported into the format requested by the web design team. The result was that 5 video clips were placed throughout the website to highlight page content with action.
